Wayne Independent Tuesday, April 10, 2012 Isabel Catherine Deering Bortree Dec. 26, 1960 - April 4, 2012 Isabel Catherine Deering Bortree, 50, of Lookout died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in Lancaster PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bortree who died on March 9, 2011. Born on December 26, 1960 in the Philadelphia area she was the daughter of the late Ronald C. and Isabel Helene Deering, science teachers from Doylestown, PA who retired to Wayne County. Isabel graduated with a degree in computer programming from Maxwell Institute of Norristown, PA. When her parents retired to a farm north of Honesdale, Isabel moved with them and made many friends in the area. She enjoyed cooking and until recently she worked at Peck's Market of Callicoon, NY in the deli section. She is survived by a daughter: Bryce Bortree who a junior at Susquehanna University and is pursuing a creative writing degree and career; and brothers: Joseph, Edward, Ronald, and Louis Deering. A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 with Rev. Jean Blackie officiating. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.

Wayne Independent Saturday, March 12, 2011 William Bryan Bortree October 23, 1949 - March 9, 2011 William Bryan Bortree, 61, of Lookout died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Isabel Deering Bortree. William was born in Lookout, he was the son of the late Buell and Jessie Hazen Bortree Sr. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. William worked as a custodian for Wayne Highlands High School. He wrote poetry and was an avid reader. He had a wonderful sense of humor. William was a loving Dad to his daughter and very proud of her accomplishments. He is survived by his wife and daughter, Bryce Ann Bortree a student at Susquehanna University; two brothers, Buell "Junie" Bortree, Jr. of Honesdale and John Robert Bortree of Lakewood; two sisters, Diane Finch of Berwick and Virginia Wolfe of Berwick; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell "Bucky", Raymond, and Ronald Joseph Jr; one sister, Bonnie Corcoran. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011, at 12:00 Noon at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale. Friends may visit the funeral home on Sunday, March 13, 2011, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
